No. 3470 — Cardamom Vodka
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3470 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
The source uses ¼ vedro (1 garnetz) spirit and 15 zolotniks coarsely crushed cardamom, infused in warmth for two to three weeks.
It then gives 3 glasses water and 1½–2 pounds sugar before following the remaining historical steps for raspberry vodka in recipe No. 3469.
Historical editorial note: The linked historical purification method includes unsafe potash and hot-alcohol handling and should not be followed literally.
Original source: Read Russian recipe No. 3470. Historical quantities and terminology are retained. See the measurements guide. Period preparation and storage methods are not modern safety guidance.
