No. 2649 — Thin Wafers (Oblatki)
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 2649 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Mix ¾ glass of flour, ¾ glass of wine and ½ glass of sugar. Bake in the wafer iron as for the rolled wafers in recipe No. 1803.
As each wafer is removed, sprinkle with a full tablespoon of sugar mixed with cinnamon. Pair the wafers and return them to the iron for about two minutes. Alternatively, sandwich pairs with preserves and dust with sugar when serving.
