No. 588 — Baked Swedes (Rutabagas)
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 588 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Thoroughly rub clean six to eight swedes and bake in the oven or Russian stove. The author allows at least three hours.
When they can easily be pierced with a fork and pressed by hand, they are ready. Remove the outer skin and serve for breakfast with butter and salt offered separately.
