English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3864 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Choose redcurrants, either as individual berries or on the sprigs.
For each bottle vinegar use a bottle of water in which fresh rose leaves have been boiled.
For each bottle of the combined liquid add 2 glasses sugar. Bring to the boil five or six times, cool and pour over the currants.
Historical editorial note: This historical diluted-vinegar preparation has no verified modern safe acidity.
