No. 3461 — Almond-Scented Vodka

English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3461 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.

The author describes using peeled young shoots of a rowan tree. The white inner stems are cut into pieces.

These were employed to scent spirits by distillation, with the number of stems adjusted to the strength of the resulting almond-like aroma.

Historical editorial note: The period distillation method and almond-scented tree tissue may pose chemical hazards and are not recommended for practical modern use.
Original source: Read Russian recipe No. 3461. Historical quantities and terminology are retained. See the measurements guide. Period preparation and storage methods are not modern safety guidance.
