No. 3457 — A Very Tasty Drink with Seltzer and Blood Oranges

English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3457 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.

For 10 glasses, equivalent in the source to 5 bottles Seltzer water, add 1 glass Alchermes liqueur and juice from 10 blood oranges. Sweeten to taste; some omit the sugar.

The Russian editorial notes explain that Seltzer water was used as a general name for mineral or carbonated water, and that korolki are red-fleshed blood oranges.
