No. 3167 — Small Coffee Buns
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3167 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Beat ½ pound washed butter until pale. Add 4 eggs, ½ pound (1 glass) sugar, 1 tablespoon finely chopped bitter almonds, 1 tablespoon finely chopped sweet almonds and ¾ pound (2¼ glasses) flour; mix well.
Drop small pieces onto a buttered iron sheet, brush with yolk and sprinkle with dried currants, shredded almonds and finely chopped candied lemon. Bake in a moderately heated oven.
