No. 3048 — Poppy-Seed Baba
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3048 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
For six people, dry and pound 1½ glasses poppy seeds. Work them in a stone bowl with 10 yolks, then add ¾ glass sugar and 5 crushed bitter almonds.
Fold in the foam of 10 beaten whites, pour into a mould and bake.
