No. 3019 — Remarkable Baba
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 3019 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
For a baba about ¾ arshin high, stir 6 cups of egg yolks with 6 tablespoons sugar until pale. Add 6 cups flour, 1 cup yeast mixture, 1 cup melted butter, 1 cup cream and 10 beaten whites.
Pour into a buttered mould; when risen, bake in an oven that is not too hot. For six people use one-third of the specified quantity.
