No. 2647 — Sweet Rolls Filled with Preserves and Rum
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 2647 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Take 12–18 small plain rolls, cut off their tops and carefully scoop out the crumb. Fill the cavities with thick preserves or marmalade and replace the tops.
Dip each filled roll into syrup made from ¾ glass of water, a small glass of rum and ¼ glass of sugar. Put briefly in the oven to dry the outside. Allow about ¾ glass of preserves in all.
