No. 2628 — Rice with Red Wine
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 2628 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Boil ¾ pound (1½ glasses) of rice in water, keeping the grains separate. Drain through a sieve and transfer to a serving dish.
Sprinkle with ½–1 glass of shredded almonds, ½ glass of currants, ½ glass of sugar and a little ground cinnamon if liked. Pour over 1 glass or more of red wine.
