English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 2024 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Prepare as for apple compote No. 2023, using twelve pears.
Omit wine and cloves, using a piece of vanilla instead.

12 pears, about 3 pounds ¼–¾ pound sugar | ½ lemon, vanilla or cinnamon |
