No. 1675 — Toast with Fresh Wild Strawberries
English historical translation of Molokhovets recipe No. 1675 from the 1901 Russian cookbook, retaining original methods and measures.
Sieve fresh wild strawberries and add one glass sugar for every two glasses of purée.
Slice plain rusks or stale white bread thinly, place in a bowl and soak with the purée.
Melt very fresh unsalted butter in a pan and fry until the slices are dry.
